Spinal Muscular Atrophy International Awareness Month was launched 18 years ago in 1996. Raising awareness of SMA in the general public can help lead to increased resources for SMA research and better care for families and individuals affected by SMA. While this is a rare condition, 1 in 40-60 of us carry the gene that causes SMA which is why we need to raise awareness. This is where you can help.
